New vs Pre-Owned PlayStation Games

When deciding where to buy PlayStation games, you'll often come across both new and pre-owned discs.

New Games

A new physical game is ideal if you want:

• A fresh copy

• Original packaging

• A newer release

• A game for your collection

Pre-Owned Games

Pre-owned games can be a smart choice for older titles.

They're particularly useful if you want to:

• Play older games

• Save money

• Build your collection

• Try a game without paying the price of a new release

HGS Console's current category specifically identifies several games as Pre-Owned, including FIFA 20, WWE 2K17, WWE 2K18, and WWE 2K22.

PS4 Games vs PS5 Games: What Should You Buy?

The first thing you need to check is your console.

If you own a PS4

Look for games specifically listed for PlayStation 4 (PS4).

If you own a PS5

Check whether you have the PS5 Disc Edition before buying physical games.

A PS5 Digital Edition does not have a disc drive, so physical game discs aren't the right choice for that console.

Can You Play PS4 Games on PS5?

Many PS4 games are compatible with PS5, but compatibility can vary by individual title.

If you're buying a PS4 disc specifically for use on a PS5, check the game's compatibility before purchasing.

This is especially important when buying older or pre-owned games.

PlayStation Game Price in Nepal

The price of a physical PlayStation game depends on the title, platform, edition, release, and whether the game is new or pre-owned.

The current HGS Console category lists PlayStation games from Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 7,800.

Why Buy Physical PlayStation Games?

Digital games are convenient, but physical games still have some major advantages.

Build a Physical Collection

If you enjoy collecting games, physical discs give you something tangible to keep.

Resell or Exchange

Depending on the title and condition, physical games can potentially be sold or exchanged after you're finished playing them.

Buy Pre-Owned

Older games can often be found in pre-owned condition, making them more affordable.

Share With Friends

Physical games can be easier to lend to friends or family members, subject to the game's licensing and account requirements.

Don't Fill Your Library With Digital Purchases

You can keep physical games separately from your digital library, although the game still requires installation and console storage when played.

What to Check Before Buying a PlayStation Game

Before ordering a physical game online, check these points.

1. PS4 or PS5

Make sure the disc is intended for your console.

2. New or Pre-Owned

Check whether the product is new or pre-owned.

3. Edition

Some games have different editions with different included content.

4. Disc Condition

For pre-owned games, check the condition of the disc and packaging.

5. Region Compatibility

Check the game's region and any relevant account/DLC restrictions, particularly if you use a different-region PlayStation account.

6. Price

Compare the price with other available options before purchasing.

PS5 Digital vs Disc Edition for Physical Games

If you're planning to buy physical PlayStation games, this distinction matters.

PS5 Disc Edition

You can use compatible physical game discs.

Best for: Gamers who want both physical and digital games.

PS5 Digital Edition

There is no disc drive.

Best for: Gamers who purchase games digitally.

Simple rule:

Want physical games → PS5 Disc Edition

Only buying digital → PS5 Digital Edition

If you specifically want to build a physical PlayStation collection, a console with a disc drive is the obvious choice.

PlayStation Games as Gifts

Physical PlayStation games can also make good gifts for gamers.

Instead of buying an accessory that someone may already own, you can choose a game based on their favorite genre.

For example:

Sports fan → FIFA or WWE

Action fan → God of War or GTA V

Fighting fan → Tekken or Naruto

Horror fan → Resident Evil

Always check the recipient's console before buying.
